Meet Our Members

Name:  Rev. Terry Bascom

Business:  Spiritual, Ministry & Clergy Services

Specialty:  Interfaith & Spiritual Weddings and Key-moment Celebrations

Location:  Southern & Central Vermont

What is your background?
I am an at-large ordained Christian minister with a Masters of Divinity degree. I taught religion at the college level for 4 years, and pastored churches for 11 years. Now I provide content for the Lilly Foundation-supported website, ''Insights into American Religion'' and author the blog, ''ChurchChange.org.'' In addition to providing spiritual, ministry and clergy services, I guest-preach in area churches and serve as an on-call officiant at local funeral establishments. Whether you are bringing a new life into your family (through birth, adoption or marriage), marking key moments in your life or the life of your family (such as baby-naming, coming-of-age, transitioning into adulthood, beginning a new employment or business, achieving a milestone, and consecrating a new home), or are saying a final good-bye to someone you have deeply loved – I will help you find the heart of the moment and help you express your deepest feelings and spiritual convictions through ceremonies that will linger in your memory forever.

How long have you been working in Vermont?
I have been living in Vermont since August 2008, and began providing at-large spiritual and religious services in April, 2010.

Favorite downtime activity:
I divide my downtime between working in my garden and orchards, walking (often with snowshoes) the fields and hills with my 90-lb dog, Dozer, and reading.

What do you enjoy about the Vermont wedding industry?
Vermont is blessed by incredible natural beauty and a welcoming human community. It is always an honor to participate in the union of loving couples set against the backdrop of what must surely be God's favorite state! I particularly enjoy helping craft meaningful inter-faith wedding services.
